It’s always a thrill to see Bill Daniels’ Jet, Cablevision, to start off a journey! This memorabilia has special meaning as the tangible symbol of my first client. It launched a 30-year odyssey for Linhart PR!
Jerry and I are starting another odyssey to the place some believe is the birthplace of civilization, Egypt and Jordan. Ironically, the Middle East hardly seems civilized today. We were frankly surprised this trip, long-planned, was not cancelled when the war with Iran began and tourist travel seemed foolhardy. Tauck Tours assured us that we’d be safe and here we go!
Despite the troubles caused by yet another government shutdown, the TSA at DIA seems to be functioning smoothly. We’re pleased to hear that the critical TSA employees will be compensated after weeks of working without pay. It is shocking that our elected representatives have failed to resolve their differences and escape their duties as they sneak off on Spring Break. They should be hanging their heads.
Our first stop is Amman, Jordan, an ancient city near the shores of the Dead Sea. We expect we will be nearly dead and feeling ancient after the arduous travel day! However, our lodging is the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar, a famous resort where we’ll rest and meet up with our tour guide and small group. The tour promises to be a fascinating and exotic compilation of some of the iconic, stunning sites that have shaped world history for centuries. We wish we had paid more attention to world history in high school!
Many of the sites we will visit are biblical sacred spots and it is appropriate that we are visiting places that inspire such religious fervor on Good Friday.
