Quebecois trés bien

Sailing through one of the longest fjords in the world on the St. Lawrence River, we arrived in Saguenay, Quebec. The serene town is a former trading post surrounded by natural beauty shaped by glaciers from millions of years ago and three national parks.
The history of this country somewhat explains why French is the mother tongue of approximately 7.8 million Canadians, 19.6 percent of the Canadian population. Battles between the French and British yielded many whose mother tongue is French with a local twist. Quebec is Canada’s official French-speaking province, but all can also speak English. It is charming to be greeted, “Bon Jour Madame”!
Quebec City is dominated by the famous Cheateau Frontenac. Situated at the top of a steep incline, the massive, stunning hotel is visible from the harbor and everywhere in the area. Very impressive. We hope to stay there someday!
The white box on the outcropping encases a statue of Madonna. We got up early to enjoy the scenery in the fjord and a rewarding view of the religious icon only to discover it was covered for refurbishment! 🥴
