Chasing the elusive Midnight SUN

Harstad, Norway

We were delighted with a bright sunny day in Harstad, so roaming the streets and pier was pleasant. This occasion in Norway is a cause for everyone to get outdoors and celebrate Summer, packing as much into the timeframe as possible. We even sunbathed on our balcony prior to a fancy dinner hosted by the Master of the Vessel Captain Krešimir Korona and the officers. Captain Korona hails from Zadar, Croatia, where we had been last year. The guest list for the dinner included a couple who have been on over a thousand Azamara cruises since the company began 17 years ago! WOW! We always thought this was a cult!

Bodo, Norway

Bodø is the largest city in Nordland County and was named the European Capital of Culture in 2024. The city is surrounded by dramatic mountains, like every port we’ve visited so far. While the height of these mountains don’t come close to the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, these rise straight out of water giving them a serene context. Another chilly, cloudy day in the Arctic Circle is a let-down after a sunny day in Harstad, but we’re sailing on the southern route now, heading back to Copenhagen.

This kitty loves to go for his morning stroll, birdwatching! We wonder if Lucy can adopt this activity, or at least get a cute kerchief!

No pooping on the pier! Jerry’s skills of dog poop patrol are global!
